I've been watching this tag thing spread through my little corner of the blogosphere with a kind of nervous anticipation. Part of me feels like a kid in a sports class hoping to get picked "tag me, tag me, pleeeeease!". But I've also been worrying in advance about what to do with the tag if and when it got here. While the tag is fun and harmless, I have a niggling discomfort about passing it on.
So I want to give heartfelt thanks to beeker and Northern Planner for tagging me - I hope you don't mind that I'm not going to pass the tag on. Here are 5 things about me that not many people know:
1) There's a 50% chance I'm a colour-blindness carrier. I've always been slightly obsessed about this and for a while considered a career in genetics just because of it. I think it's awesome that while having a colour-blind son would confirm I'm a carrier, I'll never be sure that I'm not.
2) When I first read The Catcher In The Rye, I had a horrible moment of self-recognition when Holden Caulfield referred to his room-mate Stradlater as a "secret slob". I don't have a manky toothbrush, but hidden slovenliness is definitely a guilty secret.
3) I sometimes get fantasy and reality confused. For example I often forget I haven't actually been to Japan (I nearly went once and really wish I had). And the other week I was talking to someone at a party who runs a fruit-specialised catering business and told them I knew Dan from Innocent. It didn't occur to me until the next day that I've never actually met Dan and can't really say I know him, I just read his blog and wish I did.
4) I am trained in hypnotism. I was never very good at it and don't often put it into practice but I do find it useful in getting rid of some headaches.
5) My Great Aunt's (ex)dog's nephew once won Crufts. When I was a kid, this was something that made me really proud - at least it did until my friend's dad laughed at me for bragging about it.
A ha ... a hypnotist. No wonder I am drawn back here time and time again (sorry couldn't resist). I particularly like point 3 ... it is funny how you feel like you know bloggers when you read them regularly (compulsively or not)!

Thanks Helen. I thought yours would be interesting. The fantasy/reality one made me chuckle. Quite familiar.

Oh dear, I know exactly what you mean about fantasy and reality.
It can really annoy me when people don't remember the conversation that we've shared, even though the conversation we've had was in my dream.
